A Chicago Tribune reporter writes an excellent article about dioxin contamination along the Saginaw River in Michigan.
In an article published in the Chicago Tribune on October 22, Michael Hawthorne elegantly summarizes the environmental dangers and planned efforts to clean up the dioxin that is contaminating the area surrounding the Saginaw River near Midland, Mich.
Dow Chemical Company is responsible for releasing the dioxin from its manufacturing plants that has polluted the region for more than four decades.
Hawthorne gives a brief but inclusive account of the history of the dioxin contamination and the obstacles that continue to delay its clean up. The article highlights the health dangers of living with dioxin, especially for children. It accurately reflects findings from scientific studies about dioxin exposure and health effects.
Hawthorne's article is comprehensive, accurate and very informative.
